ketamine-assisted therapy (kap)

In addition to traditional talk therapy, I specialize in ketamine-assisted therapy (KAP). KAP is a type of psychedelic-assisted therapy in that it involves substance-induced non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC) to aid in the therapeutic process. Psychedelics (or “entheogens”) have been used in holistic medicine and for spiritual practices by various cultures for millennia. When administered under clinical supervision in a carefully controlled and therapeutic setting, research shows that psychedelic-assisted therapy can produce lasting and significant mental health and behavioral benefits for a wide range of disorders including depression, anxiety, addiction, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I have served as a clinician and researcher on several clinical trials at the Columbia University Medical Center and published research examining the impact of ketamine treatment on substance use disorders. I currently provide ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) in my private practice. Learn more about my KAP practice on my FAQ page, and inquire to find out if this approach may be right for you.

psychedelic integration

While you may not be currently seeking psychedelic-assisted therapy, you may have had experiences in non-ordinary states of consciousness either recently or in the past that have ranged from profound to confusing to downright terrifying. I specialize in helping clients process, contextualize, and make meaning out of these experiences in the service of psychological growth and healing.

*Please note that as many psychedelic substances are illegal in the U.S., I do not provide, condone or assist in the use of illegal substances outside of legally sanctioned and ethically responsible research studies or cultural ceremonies. I do not refer clients to sources for obtaining illicit substances.

mindfulness coaching

For over a decade, I have trained in mindfulness-based practices including various styles of yoga, Vipassana (or insight) meditation, mindfulness-based relapse prevention (MBRP), and self-compassion focused meditation. Research has shown myriad benefits of mindfulness practice for stress reduction, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, substance use disorders, and other life challenges. Starting a mindfulness or meditation practice can often feel intimidating or overwhelming - it can be hard to know where to start, how to make space for it, and stay self-accountable. I will meet you right where you are and actively collaborate to customize a plan that is right for you based on your lifestyle and goals.

“Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage.

Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.”
